PENELCO as the provider of electrical distribution system of Bataan made its move as replication to the rapid technological advancement of the changing world. First, the Internet connection, followed by the RQIM system (simultaneous connection through phone between PENELCO (Main Office/Service Centers) and NEA,then availability of fax machines at sub-offices for fast and reliable communication and exchange of transmittal to Main Office, the BIOMETRIX device for finger 1.D. system, then the use of PSION, a modern meter reading device. Our management begins to realize the need to adapt to the changing business environments. To succeed in such, an environment requires competency in too many functional areas. As the pace of the change accelerates, few companies can excel on all fronts or can afford to be saddled with the responsibility of building and maintaining infrastructures for essential aspects of their business such as system enhancement and maintenance. This early month of June, by the fact stated above, responsible personnel from each department of PENELCO got this idea of "internet sharing".
In view of the internet, it guarantees the free flow of information to all/from all corners of the globe. Then here comes the good news, as requested by Engr. Antonio D. Paguio of PSSD, Ms. Ellaine S. de Guzman of Internal Audit Office, Ms. Lorena R. Capiral of Accounting Division, Ms. Marilou C. Gonzales of MSD-CSS, and Ms. Ana Maria V. Gabriel of Administrative Division, internet sharing was then granted by our RGM, Engr. Loreto A. Marcelino for the purpose of providing PENELCO's staff/personnel the broad and updated information around the world.
For only two days after purchasing all necessary materials for network cabling, the "techno" team of PENELCO headed by Mr. Louie Villaluz together with Mr. Obet Santos executed such installation for network sharing. Assisting them is Mr. Ernesto Bongat and a certain Mr. Oliver.
Using A-DSL(Digital Subscribers Line) connection, DIGITEL act as the internet service provider. It will run to the local mother server, which by now controlled and managed by the EDP Department, then it will flow to the different service line assigned in every department.
Introducing such system, more accessibly, will improve communication, knowledge, and therefore skills. However, improved knowledge does not depend on the introduction of technology but on the active use of it. (Engr. Mary Ann Lovella P. Salenga) |
