A few hours aft er its landfall in the early morning of September 27th, typhoon Pedring has immediately caused substantial damages, particularly in Luzon regions. Several areas have lost power supply, some roads barricaded by landslides and fl ooding, falling trees, ruined plantations, missing residents and some casualties.
Bataan has been placed under Public Storm Signal No. 2 by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA). Strong winds with accompanying continuous heavy rain-falls were felt in the whole area of the province. And it has been assessed that 80 percent of the province had lost power supply due to interruption from NGCP. Meanwhile, some of PENELCO’s distribution lines also suff er damages such as tumbled and leaned poles as well as fallen trees along distribution lines. Mandated to provide adequate, reliable, and high-quality electricity, dedicated crews and linemen of PENELCO responded immediately to power outages in the aff ected areas. Backbone lines must be restored fi rst because they are the main lines and will deliver power to the lateral lines. Within twenty-four hours, PENELCO corrected and cleared all its backbone lines and restored power substations to all municipalities except Bagac and Morong due to NGCP 69 kV sub transmission line trouble. Indeed, these would not be possible without the spirit of unity. All worked in harmony and as one team. Th e collective efforts of PENELCO employees and project employees made the swift restoration of electricity throughout the province. |
