The Peninsula Electric Cooperative Inc., PENELCO continues to pursue its dedication for Reliability and Efficiency of Power Service and for Major Advancement throughout the years.
After a series of newly energized substations, the Power Substation and Sub transmission Department (PSSD) continues its project to ensure a reliable and efficient Distribution System for the benefit of the memberconsumers. One of its projects include the upgrading of other conventional substations.
Last February 13, 2011, Limay Substation’s damaged ABB Switchgear was replaced by a new and high-end SF6 (Sulfur Hexa Fluoride) Gas Ormazabal Switchgear and was typically installed on other substations. The replacement took a week to rewire, test and terminate cables before the new switchgear was commissioned.
With its dedication for service, PENELCO invested on different test equipment to conduct different preventive and corrective measures and diagnostic tests to all of its substations. PENELCO now employs its own Annual Preventive Maintenance and Corrective Maintenance to ensure the integrity of the different apparatus, and to maintain an uninterrupted service to its member-consumers. We are proud to say that these equipment are state-of-the-art and one of the high-ends available in the market today.
The Annual Preventive Maintenance is performed on every substation where the Power Transformers undergo different diagnostic and preventive tests to foresee any imminent failure. In the case that impurities were found in the insulating oil, the cooperative will have to clean it using its very own Oil Purifying Plant. Moreover Instrument Transformers Relays and Protective Equipments are properly maintained for its accuracy and efficiency. |
