PENELCO bags a number of awards during the 2011 EC Lumens Awards for performance year 2010 at Radisson Blu Hotel, Cebu City on April 29, 2011. The Lumens Awards is held annually by the National Electrification Administration (NEA) as part of the NEA-EC Conference and Recognition in acknowledgment of the outstanding performance of electric cooperatives (ECs) in the whole country.

PENELCO collected a total of seven (7) awards namely: For the EC Awards – 1) Emmanuel N. Pelaez Award for the Best EC of theYear, with four other ECs; 2) Best System Loss Performance Award: Single Digit Loss – Main Grid, together with sixteen other ECs; and 3) Special Citation for Top Ten (10) ECs with the Best Financial Performance. For the other Citations – 1) Special Citation for ECs Pioneering Efforts of Preserving their Legacy and Continuously Promoting the R.E. Program through the Publication of a Coffee Table Book, with 3 other ECs; 2) Citation to an EC for Pioneering the Automated Meter Reading (AMR) in Preparation to Open Access and Retail Competition, the only one in the country; and 3) Special Citation for ECs with the Best Website, together with the 4 other ECs. It is also worth noting that Engr. Loreto A. Marcelino was honored with the Pedro G. Dumol Award for the Best General Manager of the Year, along with 2 other general managers.

These accolades would not have been possible if not for the leadership of management and board of directors, hardworking workforce, and supportive member-consumers. Indeed, 2010 has been a good year for the Coop and may we continue to perform remarkably for the satisfaction of the memberconsumers.
