Being a Leader and Overseer of a team carries immense responsibility. That’s how it goes for our featured employee in the person of Ms. Maria Liza dela Fuente-Samson, Officer in Charge of Samal Service Center. Yes, she does it all! Supervising the workforce - both the institutional and technical aspects, meeting the target collection efficiency, ensuring the transactions of the collection of the day, preparing daily reports and many other functions which she performed from time to time, has never been easy at all to her when she accepted the promotion - position. But because of her pledge and enthusiasm with her work, she was able to perform completely all the duties that she has to carry out every day.

Liza first saw the light on April 12, 1977. She was the third child in the brood of eight to her parents, Dir. Vicente “Enteng” dela Fuente, the former Mayor of Abucay and Edna Garcia. No doubt, being in the clan of politicians somewhat developed her inter- personal skills and her exposure and participation to community works gave her a chance to be socially oriented type even at her young age.

Liza graduated with honors during her primary and secondary years at the Peninsula School in Limay. Seeing that she has greatly showed intelligence and perseverance, she pursued a degree in Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration at University of the Philippines - Diliman. Afterwards, She took up her Master’s in Business Administration Major in Fiscal Administration at Philippine School of Business Administration - Manila. Apparently, Liza is really eager to learn for the fact that she even grabbed the opportunity to study MBA.

To a woman like her, it is not impossible to attain everything she has accomplished.

Liza made sure to maintain the commendable rating that she has been receiving throughout the years of working in Penelco since 2005. She held various positions such as Member Development Officer and Acting Human Resource Section Head under the Institutional Services and Development Department and Staff Assistant to the General Manager before she was designated the Officer-in-Charge of Samal SC. She is focused and determined in her work while at the same time, persistently acknowledging new challenges against it. No wonder she receives respect and admiration from the higher level management and co-workers.

While she works outstandingly, she strives to strike a balance between work and family by providing quality time with her husband, Jefferson Samson and their only child, Ivan Victor.

As a young couple they plan to have more children in the future.

Despite her accomplishments, she remains modest and keen in everything she does. Truly, she is a personification of a leader, manifesting both humility and firmness.
