ELECTRIFICATION OF BARANGAY MAWACAT   Print  E-mail 

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo instructed the National Electrification Administration (NEA) to electrify the remote barangay of Mawacat covered by the Municipality of Floridablanca in Pampanga within 100 days during her visit in the village last 27 May 2009. About 200 indigent aeta families in the said barangay will be benefited under President’s barangay electrification program.

Administrator Edita Bueno said that NEA would act expeditiously on the President’s directive.

She directed Engr. Jose Seguban Jr., NEA Engineering Department Manager, to organize “Task Force Mawacat” composed of electric cooperatives in Region III. PENELCO, PELCO I, PELCO II, PRESCO, TARELCO I, TARELCO II, ZAMECO I and ZAMECO II, immediately responded to the call of NEA. Engr. Seguban assigned Engrs. Willy Bucsit, Nonie Mendoza and Eric Villar to supervise the project. The administration of fund was entrusted to PENELCO.

On June 23, 2009, “Task Force Mawacat” commenced the construction of the seven (7) kilometers single phase electrical distribution line from the nearest tapping point of Mt. Pinatubo Resettlement Area in the same Municipality. Aggresively, the project was completed by the taskforce in just eleven (11) days crossing two (2) rivers and mountainous terrain.

The formal energization of Barangay Mawacat was conducted on July 4, 2009 which was personally attended and switched-on by the Secretary Francisco G. Silva, Presidential Adviser on Rural Electrification, Administrator Edita S. Bueno, Fr. Edicio dela Torre, Mawacat Barangay Captain Carlos Trajano, PENELCO GM Loreto A. Marcelino, TARELCO II GM Rex Coronel, ZAMECO I GM Rene Divino, PELCO I GM Loliano Allas, PRESCO GM Efren Tongol, and PELCO II GM Amador Guevarra.

Secretary Fr. Silva and Administrator Bueno commended the members of “Task Force Mawacat” for a job-welldone.

Mawacat Barangay Captain Carlos Trajano could not contain his happiness and excitement over the electrification of his barangay that for so many years they are living in darkness. He thanked the government and the task force in fulfilling their dream of light.
