It was two years ago that Penelco held its last sportsfest, and now with the blessing of the Management and the Board of Directors, Sportsfest 2007 is again a reality. The objective of this activity is to foster camaraderie, fellowship, bonding among the employees and also to promote a healthy lifestyle in a competitive and enjoyable way.

Sportsfest 2007 formally opened last February 19, 2007. This year's sportsfest consist of four different teams (red, Blue, Yellow and Green) of employees including members of the board and one guest team, Nextream. Only five events were at stake in this year's competition namely: Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Table Tennis, and Dart. This sportsfest was spearheaded by the over-all chairman Engr. Antonio D. Paguio who despite of the limited time given made sure that the sportsfest would be a success, with the undying support of Mr. Roy Mendoza, Assistant Over All Chairman and different committee.

The event started off with a parade of colors and the different teams in their uniforms paraded around the main office grounds with every team displaying their own muses. The parade ended in the Solidarity Hall where the program proper and the opening game were held. Present also are the board of directors who each gave their inspirational messages to boost the players team spirits.

The program was highlighted with the traditional torch lighting ceremony, representative of each team made a torch relay including Penelco's General Manager Engr. Loreto A. Marcelino and its Board President Ms. Nerisa Medina who lighted the symbolic cauldron. The torch lighting represents harmony and goodwill and sportsfest flame symbolizes peace and unity among the Board of Directors, Management and staff and the employees as well as the Coop's joint venture partner in Broadband Over Power Lines. Another surprise part of the program was the presentation of the Penelco's No. 1 jersey to GM Marcelino as sign of recognition for his support to this activity and his leadership in managing the Coop's operation. Part of the program was Penelco's Dance Troupe performance and the presentation of team's muses.
