The Philippine Rural Electric Cooperatives Association, Inc. (PHILRECA) in cooperation with the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) conducted a three-day seminar workshop for Luzon Electric Cooperatives (ECs) last August 31 to September 2, 2005 at Robbinsdale Hotel, Quezon City. Ms. Ellaine de Guzman, Ms. Lorena Capiral; and Ms. Renee Rose Tomas attended in representation of PENELCO. The said seminar aimed to review the ECs on the Uniform Filing Requirements (UFR) Software used for their Unbundled Rates and to discuss issues concerning every ECs. Mr. Wendell Ballesteros, General Manager of PHILRECA spearheaded the group in addressing the ERC on issues presently encountered by all ECs particularly on their rate adjustments. Hon. Rauf A. Tan, ERC Commissioner led his group in attending to each concern thus saying that it is time for the ECs to "get another blanket" in replacement of their old ones, which was worn out by the effectivity of R.A. 9136 (EPIRA).
Truly, the EPIRA has brought so many changes in the EC's world. Some are having difficulties in coping up with its prescribed requirements but PENELCO, with its continuing outstanding performance and with PHILRECA's unwavering support, is still one of those who are ready and strong enough to endure the upcoming changes required by the law. -renee rose tomas |
