Following the infotext scheme via Globe TM, one more modern tool tagged as the Broadband over Power Line (BPL) will touch the line of PENELCO towards consumers' advancement, as co-op's another value added service (VAS).

Recently, Gen. Pedro Dumol accompanied the Country Manager of Broadband Internet Telephony (BITE) Communications and CEO of Extream Technology, Mr. Ronald Fesalbon, with the Network Administrator of CAPELCO, Mr. Marcial Dumol in PENELCO to inspect the distribution set-up of the co-op to perceive its viability on broadband over power lines, which after the round of inspection in the entire area of coverage on August 17-19, the two exclaimed adaptation to the BPL.

In a conducted briefing on 18 August 2005, Mr. Fesalbon explained how the system will work. He said that all consumers with power connections with PENELCO will have the opportunity enjoy the benefit of BPL services they only need a modem to enroll and to connect directly in any convenience outlet within the franchise area of PENELCO. The services will include internet, cable TV and telephone, which all consumers even in the far flung places will enjoy by simply plugging in the modem:

The BPL is operational in the US and the proposed system is enhanced by the Singaporean firm targeting the rural people to compete with the highly urbanized populace. The Capiz Electric Cooperative (PENELCO) that piloted this project in the country is now on test connections among the government entities.

Considering the strategic location of Bataan, PENELCO is expected to boom the BPL in the country. Not so long, the effectiveness and advancement of the system at lower cost on the part of the subscribers will be achieved. Engr. Marcelino is optimistic in achieving the dream of not only the total electrification of the whole province up to the farthest area, but, also to supply the province with advance technology through power lines.
