PENELCO Employees attend series of seminars   Print  E-mail 
Department Managers, Service Center Supervisors and Selected Employees from Peninsula Electric Cooperative, Inc. attended series of seminars last June, 2005 to the early part of July, 2005. The first seminar was conducted by National Electrification Administration (NEA) as mandated by the Electric Power Industry Act (EPIRA) and Executive Order 119. Said activity aimed to equip Electric Cooperatives in facing the difficult challenges of EPIRA by constituting dramatic changes, principally in the area of creative leadership, effective management and highly deve-loped culture.

The last batch to attend such seminar were the Internal Auditors, which was held at the People Development Academy, CEBECO III Compound in Toledo City from July 5-9, 2005. Representing PENELCO to said seminar were Ms. Lovelina Cudia, Ms. Nancy Sto. Domingo and Ms. Renee Rose Tomas.

Delegates were very fortunate to have no less than the much-revered Presidential Adviser on Rural Electrification, Sec. Fr. Francisco G. Silva, as the main speaker together with the very hardworking NEA Administrator, Edita S. Bueno. Fr. Silva imparted to the participants the immense importance of leadership by example. It was a seminar unlike any other, as each participant was given an opportunity to witness first-hand, CEBECO III's leadership and management practices and their well-grounded corporate culture.

Likewise, three (3) employees from the Engineering Department also  attend a seminar conducted by the National Engineering Center in cooperation with U.P. Engineering Research & Development Foundation, Inc. regarding Protective Relaying, System Grounding & Synchronizing last July 13-15, 2005 at the University of the Philippines, Diliman Quezon City. The said, seminar emphasized a thorough understanding of the protective relays, calibration, testing, setting and system grounding. The participants were able to analyze the adequacy and coordination of the protection of electrical system, obtain adequate knowledge in system grounding for the protection of the equipment of Substations and be able to perform fault and load calculations and coordinate the protective device system. Said employees who attended the seminar were Osmond Suarez, Jonathan Manrique and Joey Bantugan.
