In keeping with the principles of fair play, generosity and honor, badminton enthusiasts of PENELCO made their dream come true by taking their sports into competition. As permitted by the management, sixteen men and fourteen women, will vie for the title of the PENELCO'S 1st Badminton Doubles Tournament Champion. The tournament features men and women's doubles. The opening started at about 5:30 in the afternoon last Feb. 10, 2005 @ Solidarity Hall, PENELCO Main Office. Mr. Joselito Izon did the hosting and keeping all in stitches. Dir. Manalili gave his inspirational talk highlighting sportsmanship, camaraderie and the goodness of sports into our health; likewise, Engr. Tony Paguio led the players' oath taking.
Everybody was so happy and very high in spirit. The fact that all the viewers and the technical staff (umpires, referees) are also players, they managed to make that moment something to cherish.
They are those who behave according to principles of fairness and who observe rules, show respect for others, and accepts defeat graciously. They are those who have speed, strength, power, agility and nerve and make badminton as their active pastime participated in for pleasure or exercise.
If God permits, the awarding of winners will be on April 2005 on the celebration of PENELCO's 15th Year Anniversary and hopefully, through this, the essence of sportsmanship will be much developed and achieved. (By: Ann Salenga) |
